News Item Text is a type of text that provides up-to-date information about events that are important to you. News Item Text aims to provide information to readers or listeners. Usually, News Item Text provides information that is the latest event.

• The Characteristics of News Item Text

News Item Text features The characteristics of this text are as follows:

 • The language used is short but concise and focuses on an event

• This text also includes the main information in the title of the text (headline).

•Usually use verbs to indicate activities (action verbs) such as push, hit, jump, crash, and so on.

• The tenses commonly used in this text are Past Tenses because the events being told have already happened. However, it is possible to be able to

• use the Present Tense. 

•This text also uses saying verbs such as said, stated, reported, and so on.


• General Structure of News Item


• Main Event/Newsworthy Event: is the main story, the part that tells a summary of an important event or event that occurred. 

• Background Event/Elaboration: tells in detail the background of events or events that occurred, who was involved, where and how the events occurred.

• Source: the last part of the news item text structure, is a news source that can be in the form of statements from sources, witness comments, expert opinions, or statements from related parties from an event.

Actor Didi Petet dies aged 58

Veteran actor Didi Widiatmoko, popularly known as Didi Petet, died at the age of 58 at his residence in Sasak Tinggi, Ciputat, South Tangerang, on Friday morning.
Didi’s niece Muthia Kautsar said that Didi, who starred in a number of comedy and drama films in the 1980s and 1990s, collapsed and lost consciousness when attending an expo in Milan, Italy, recently.
“He just arrived home on May 10 after attending the exhibition. In that city, he collapsed and lost consciousness and returned home in a wheelchair,” she said.
On Tuesday, Didi was taken to Bandung for treatment. Muthia said no diseases were detected but he died on Friday.
Didi’s body is laid out in his residence on Jl. Bambu Apus in Sasak Tinggi, Ciputat, South Tangerang. It has yet to be decided when and where he will be buried

Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa posted pictures of litter collected in cardboard parcels ready to be shipped on his Facebook account. "Your trash - we'll send it back to you," the post warns, reminding people that littering in a national park is an offence and punishable with up to five years in prison and hefty fines.

"The young man was on the outside of the barrier and was holding a knife to his chest but nobody seemed to be trying to talk him round," she said. "I wanted to help him but the police wouldn't let me through so I lied and told them he was my boyfriend and that he wanted to kill himself because of me.

"They let me talk to him and he told me he was sad because he was from a broken family. I'm also from a broken family too and understood him perfectly."

Liu then surprised everyone - especially the young man – by stepping forward, putting her arms around him and giving him a kiss. A fireman took advantage of the distraction and dashed forward to grab hold of the man and pull him to safety.

"His story touched me, and I felt like I really was his girlfriend and I could help him," said Liu afterwards
